| Maureen
is the oldest of the "Starship" cast members of the Bunim Murray NBC TV show
"Starting Over". When interviewed she stated that she was 61 and would be 62 on
April 15th...and that she wanted to write a book about the "Forgotten American
Art Illustrators". She also boldly declared a deep down urge to be a "STAND UP COMIC". Next thing she knew she was in LA being interviewed and chosen as one of the "Original Six". In the summer of 2003, she arrived at the Chicago location for the show. Eight days later, she was thrown onto a stage at the Lyon's Den to perform for the first time in her life. Mentored by Jen Slusser, Aaron Foster, Dave Odd, Jeff Siena, and Mollie Sullivan for the several weeks she was on the show, she went from a frightened, unseasoned, self-proclaimed funny person to a frightened, unseasoned, self-proclaimed, potentially funny person. Since leaving the show she has been involved in a "Comedy Writing & Development" seminar with Dobie Maxwell at Zanie's Comedy Club in Chicago. In November she will be going to the Judy Carter Comedy Workshop in Palm Springs, CA. (Both of which were gifts from the producers, Thank you) Far from being accomplished on the stage, she has found that developing her stage character/persona is most challenging. She expects ups and downs but feels that with hard work and perseverance, she'll achieve a modicum of success. Since the show ended Maureen has been at various clubs in the Chicago area performing and trying to cure her stage fright. She has discovered, however that stage fright seems to be something that never goes away. It's just part and parcel of the territory.
